I'm hoping to change providers after i have moved. I'm currently with Tiscali, but have had no end of problems with them. I was wondering If you guys know of any good ones that are hassle free and deliver the best service and are relitively cheap.

I was considering talk talk but would like some ideas first

I swear by BT. I am on the BT Home hub broadband and it's great. Had a few teething problems with it to start with but they soon sorted them out and now it runs like clockwork. Had AOL & Tiscali in the past and a mate of mine has just tried to go onto Orange Broadband and they are very bad, all 3 of them.

It depends what your priorities are. The two sites below will be able to steer you in the right directions, and you can read about people's experiences with the ISPs.

In my experience, PlusNet are very good. I think they have the most reasonable "reasonable use" policy which only applies during peak hours (4pm - midnight) and only for file sharing. It doesn't inhibit your web surfing or emailing. Also, if you go over the limit, they won't charge you more or cut you off, it just kicks in with the maximum slowdown of your file sharing (only during peak hours). Outside of peak hours, there are no restrictions to the service whatsoever. I've had it a long while now and there's not been any service outages.

There's a reference for PlusNet below also. I like them.

As regards Talk Talk - I've no direct experience, but from reading magazines and websites I wouldn't give them my money. They don't get raved about, as you'll see on the two sites below.

Good luck. Choosing the 'right' one isn't easy - someone will always have a bad thing to say about each choice.

Tiscali are a disgrace get away from them as soon as you can. My daughter had Tiscali Broadband and Phone installed on Sep 20th, we had to call Tiscali over a dozen times as neither would work, they were completely unhelpful and failed to ring back every time they promised they would.

We told them we wanted to cancel as they hadn't provided a service and they told us we would have to pay the entire 12 months price if we wanted to cancel, after 28 days with no service we finally got it cancelled and got connected by cable who sent an engineer to install everything for us. A week later we receive a bill from Tiscali for 33 pounds yet we never used the service as it wouldn't work.

NO ONE USE TISCALI THEY ARE AWFUL!!!!!

I know it sounds like a cop out! But I have never had any problem with BT, I know loads of other people with different providers who have had terrible trouble, particularly Talk Talk and Tiscalli, where as I have had a smooth trouble free service for about 3 years.

I've used PlusNet for 5 years now, never had a problem and still paying the same £14.99 for unlimited broadband and a 5 Mb connection.

Try this site http://www.moneysupermarket.com/broadband/

they give you an honest opinion about whats out there, beware of the 18 month tie ins! good luck

Please avoid TalkTalk...it is causing problems for the majority of people who signed up and TalkTalk have been refunding them. Also avoid AOHell, who download a lot of garbage on computers with their revolting, virus like package.

I have been using NTL BB for several years and am delighted with their service.

BT also give a good service.

You only get what you pay for and it all depends whether you want a good and reliable service, in which case you will have to pay around £17.99 per month for the "lowest" package.

If you go by the stats, Zen broadband but it's also the most expensive. A good all rounder is eclipse broadband.

Use the comparator at http://www.adslguide.org.uk/isps/compare.asp

You will find Talk Talk is pretty poor all round (speed, reliability and customer service)

I used Bt because I already had A BT phone etc and It has worked out perfectly well.. GOOD SECURITY. You get a dynamic Ip address as standard. And a free router if you order online. I am a novice and i found it really easy to set it all up. Good luck.....gino
