This is something that needs to be discussed a lot by everyone including lawmakers for at least a couple of years.
I'm afraid your scenario might be correct -- that we go quickly to an implanted chip. The US hastily adopts extreme measures after ignoring problems such as increases in world wide terrorism and illegal immigration for YEARS. Then all of a sudden, our government says it's an emergency and we must invade and take over entire countries because ordinary measures to find criminals don't work with terrorists. We must build 700-2000 miles of wall because spiffing up the border patrol, making agreements with Mexico and penalizing employers don't work anymore even though we've never really tried these.
So we'll wait for a crisis on this ID thing. The government will issue some easy -to - counterfeit plastic wallet card, it won't work, then presto we wind up with chips in our clavicles containing all our personal records as well as a gps finder.

The National I.D Card program is just a bunch a bullshit. An ID is not going to stop a terrorist from blowing himself up, or from hating the US. It doesn't work that way, what the hell are we gonna do? What we see Osama and we flash him our National ID and he says "ok i give up", come on. We already have drivers licenses, Social Security Numbers, Passports. This is just a new way to categorize people.

there is no point to them. We already have a national one called social security, and a state on e called a driver's license, or ID card. You use both of these at a gov't office to get a voter ID card. We have 25% of people who vote now, I'd hate to see it decrease, on account of it being too difficult to vote. We don't need barriers to the booths.

Yes, of course why not other than the usually conspiracy baloney. As if your drivers license doesn't already have you marked. Heck your social security card has you stamped in the government files for life. So what difference does one more card make?

From what I can understand, if you don't accept the card, you won't be able to have a driver's license, social security payments, bank account, etc. Kind of scary!

I just counted the cards in my wallet for various things- the total number of cards I carry in my wallet is 29!
That is ridiculous. If there is a way for us to combine all these into a single card (with firewalled privacy protection), I'm all for it.

No, I've lived abroad long enough to change nationality if they ever bring in compulsory cards.

No, I'll die first. That is supposed to be during the Tribulation. So when that becomes apparent, we know the end is near.
