Until recently I had a similarly specced system, but with more RAM. When I used it to play NFS Underground, it played fine in 800x600 with the graphics down low.

If you want to play NFS Underground either at higher resolutions, or with more detail, you will need much more RAM and probably a more powerful graphics card.

I hope that helps. It's a bit of a subjective question - yes, it'll play smoothly at low detail. If you want more graphics power - this isn't the right computer I'm afraid.

IN RESPONSE TO YOUR ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

Hi, I got your email. You've already got a solid processor, and other components. I think you only need more RAM and a better graphics card.

Here are my suggestions on the best ways to improve your system if I was spending my own money:

I would buy 512MB Corsair Value DDR 266 memory:
http://www.yoyotech.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=18_41&products_id=737&osCsid=196dd8bc97d7bfb87ab8d83f3ef0bba3

Then depending how much you want to spend on a graphics card (I wouldn't go overboard) I would probably get an AGP nVidia 7600GS (good card) 256MB DDR2 memory:

I hope that helps you out. I don't know how much you want to spend on your gaming, but these two upgrades with improve your games A LOT!

I wouldn't get the nVidia 6200 as a gaming card, it's not much improvement on the 9550 you already have. Save up and get the 7600GS if you can afford it. :)

All the best. Let me know if I can be of any more help.

IN ADDITIONAL RESPONSE TO YOUR EMAIL

Becuase you haven't got your email address confirmed with Yahoo! Answers and your ID shows up as n/a I can't email you back, so I'll have to answer here.

No, the ATi X1300 don't be any good for playing NFSU with high graphics. I don't think that card's up to it. you want either an nVidia 6600 or 7600 (GS or GT will do). See what you can find for the money you can afford.

I hope this helps you a bit further with your choices. But to play the game smoothly, you will really need at least 512MB of RAM.

It's not great i'm affraid. You will definatey need more RAM, but you can pick up extra memory for pennies on ebay! don't scrimp on a new graphics card either. Go to your local computer shop and ask for some advice on which card is best, they will want to know whether your system is PCIe or agp. once they've told you which cards are best, take that information home and buy one for cheap online!!!

Yea, it would work... The proccessor is really good, the amount of ram isn't that high, but it will do.. I recomend 512mb - 1gig of ram (wich I have for sale on ebay) you wanted some links http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170041564291&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=007, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=170041564291&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=007 and your graphics card seems good, although personally I prefer nVIDIA ... If you're playing need for speed underground, 2, or most wanted you should be fine, though I recomend you upgrade your ram a little since you have such a good proccessor and graphics card.

It won't be great, but it will get you by. The vid card isn't anything special, that's for sure, and with only 380mb of ram you might find upgrading is a necessity.

It'll be decent with more ram. I personally would recommend a gig, but that starts to get a bit pricey.
