good question.
Take a look at your grades in school and see what you excelled in. Remember back to what people have told you you are good at doing. Take a look at what hobbies you have or what you enjoy doing. Then go to your nearest junior college and take one of their "interests" tests...there are a lot of psychological questions on there (you can even figure them out for yourself without the test) that would direct you into a career field. Don't try to outsmart the test as there is no right or wrong answer, just answer the questions quickly. The questions would basically ask what kind of people you like around you, what things you like to do. And then go back for an evaluation and they will give you a list of jobs you "might" be suited for. Don't take it for gospel but let that test be a direction for you.

I WOULD SUGGEST YOU GO TO A UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE AND SPEAK TO A STUDENT COUNSELLOR. IF POSSIBLE DO THE TEST THAT THEY PRESCRIBE TO FIRST YEAR STUDENTS WHO AREN'T SURE WHICH CAREER THEY ARE INTERESTED IN. IT'S BEEN QUITE A WHILE BUT I DID SUCH A TEST BEFORE DECIDING WHICH DEGREE I WANTED TO STUDY. WHAT I THOUGHT I WAS MEANT TO DO, WAS NOT WHAT THE TEST REVEALED AND TODAY I AM GRATEFUL THAT I FOLLOWED THE RESULTS OF THE TEST. WELL THIS IS HOW IT'S DONE IN SOUTH AFRICA. GOOD LUCK!

I made my hobby into my career. I enjoy working on computers and found that I am happiest doing that as my job.
Look at your hobbies and see if you can find a job that is close to what you do as a hobby.
Take care,
Troy

try out different entry level jobs till you find one you both enjoy and are good at. It also helps that the job pay well enough for you to live and pay your bills.

By talking to different persons.
By observation - how other people are working.
By searching and researching.
By elimination - what you don't want to do...
