Davy Crockett -- He was a real man, but the myth is better!
Same with Daniel Boone. And George Washington and the cherry tree, and the quarter he threw across the river. And Jesse James... I would say, most of our heroes turn into myths, larger than life, after awhile. John F. Kennedy, etc.

Paul Bunyan -- I'm not sure whether he was actually a real man, or Pecos Bill

That the White House actually knows what it's doing!
That GWB represents the will of the people.
That Hilary Clinton has never run the White House before.
That to be born black is to be equal to any white man.
That JFK was shot by LH Oswald.

That George W. was elected (either time). That we are protecting our country by attacking other countries. That our country is safer now than it was before 9/11.
