A lot of British people don't like to talk about their feelings, and can seem quite closed and repressed before they get to know someone, compared with our perception of Americans, for example. (Probably a crashing generalisation, but we do tend to think of Americans as spending all their time on Oprah and Jerry Springer-type shows, airing their dirty laundry in public!) You haven't mentioned where you are moving from, by the way.

Be patient, and try to make friends, if you are finding it hard to connect with anyone sexually at first.

From what I have seen on this site recently, I would think there is possibly less militant homophobia here, and definitely less right-wing so-called "Christian" bigotry, than in the US, but there is a mixture of good and bad people anywhere you go.

If you move to one of the big cities like London, Manchester Glasgow etc you will find that people are quite tolerant there and mostly don't care if you are gay. It is still unusual to see public displays of affection like holding hands and kissing except in some of the 'gay villages' but generally people will not care if you are gay there. Living in smaller towns and villages could prove to be difficult and you might have problems with your neighbours if they find out you are gay.

I dont understand the connection. How does your sexual orientation come into play when moving from one country to another? Your gay where you live now and you will be gay where you move to. When you get there have a cup of tea and move on.

well it depends on what country you are from really......
us Brits are getting rather annoyed with the amount of immigrants that are coming to our country so you may find you have double the troubles.... mind you go to a city and you will be fine!

The best advice is be yourself. Be free, and do what YOU see as normal. Enjoy yourself!
