My 5 month old is in the baby walker and has been for the last 2 months or so. Obviously, he is not in it all the time because he is still only very young, but he is pushing himself from one side of the room to the other and has extended his trips into the kitchen as from a week ago! His walker has a 'tray' in front of him which enables me to put some toys on top for him to play. He likes anything fluffy, and I bought him some jelly based toys so he can chew on them. I give him Farley's rusks, so he is munching (or sucking) on those. He is fascinated by pussycats running in the garden, so I take him out for him to see them (but not touch them!). He loves trees, the movements fascinate him, and he adores the fish in the fish tank. He has a little musical toy (costs about £50 from Toys R Us, got him it for £1 on the car boot sale!). Also, chocolate wrappers he loves squeezing as they make a noise, but again, you must watch him so he doesn't eat it. Just try to give him colourful things with different textures, babies love that. Taking him shopping is interesting for them, as there are many colours in the market and fancy items they can hold for mummy in the trolley. Just hive him whatever is safe, it is all new to him and cannot possibly be bored. A door bouncer, is great! Whats old and boring for you, is new and exciting for him. Enjoy!!

What I used to do for my 2 kids when that young was just talk. About whatever. You don't even need to talk to them, just hearing your voice is entertainment enough. When you place them on the floor use a mobile for entertainment. Turn on soft music on the radio is also entertainment. At that age, all they need is to hear things and they are happy. Now if only I could turn back the hands of time rather than me now trying to entertain a 15 and 12 year old. lol. Much easier at 4 months.

My 4 month daughter loves her exersaucer (she's not technically big enough for it so I roll up a blanket and tuck it behind her) She's figured out to spin already to see the different toys. Also, she loves anything that lights up and plays music...I got her a Leap Frog plush piano that plays sounds and music when she presses it...she loves that! Tummy time is great with the piano...also we have the world's most annoying toy in my opinion we found at a baby consignment shop. It's by Playskool and it has two pads shaped like feet and then two little levers for where her hands should go and when she kicks or hits the feet or the levers this ball shoots up in ring thingy and plays loud annoying music and then these two little spinny things shoot up...it's the funniest thing when I see her head follow them up and down but she knows she's controlling them. Also, a combination that helps me cook dinner from time to time...exersaucer in front of Baby Einstein dvd (she loves the water one). Basically anything that is colorful and makes some kind of noise will be very entertaining. Have fun...and congrats on the new love of you life. I know my daughter is mine!

We have lots of tummy and back time. We just got him into an exercauser which he loves! Also, I rotate around his toys. I don't throw a lot at him but when he loses interest for more than 20 minutes, I change out the toy and he's pretty happy. I also talk to him a lot. I don't know if all of this is more for my peace of mind or his but he seems to be a happy, content baby!

He won't be bored - just taking in his surroundings! Don't bombard him with flashing singing toys. A door bouncer is a good way to keep him amusd and you need to get down onto his level and play and talk to him. Even just singing silly songs, tickling his belly and things like that. A game of peekaboo would be fun too!
Its tough cos you don't get a lot back from them but they are taking everything in so stick with it!
But please, don't bombard him with toys - that really does bore children! Put more than 3 things in from of them and they just get bored and turn away.

Your baby is not bored! Think about all the new things he/she explores every day!? Just looking at you and maybe a colorful toy is enough excitement.
I know there are books with games to play with children at different ages, but I don't know any English books - I'm Norwegian. :)

I deliver him into the room the place i'm working and you guessed it, it is often the kitchen. I set a blanket down on the floor with some toys or his wellbeing club. If he gets bored with that, I attempt the severe chair. you are able to sparkling one room at a time and produce him with you. For him, each and each new room is new entertainment. maximum suitable of large fortune.

Just being in this world must be the most fascinating thing for babies! Imagine all the things that we take for granted, but he is only just becoming familiar with. Don't overstimulate him. At 4 months old he is discovering things all the time.

probably by now he can lay on the floor on his tummy.... give him a play mat with interactive toys to lay on.
If he has any strength at all you can use a walker now too- at it's shortest setting pack towels/ blankets around his tummy and back for support. Let him fel like a big boy sitting up.
A blanket on the floor in front of TV with Baby Enstiens video playing, [ http://www.babyeinstein.com/ ] These guys are good- shapes and colors on th screen capture baby's attention while stimulation their hearing too with classical music.
Going for walks outside is good too... he can look around and take in the sights.
If he is sitting in a chair or seat hanging toys are a good thing too.
Join the YMCA or other swimming place give baby swim lessons.
Let him grab a wooden spoon and bang on a pot.
Read to him with a big picture book, sing to him, dance for him. Make him laugh. Make faces, see if he copies you.
Everything is new to this little one- Its us adults who take it all for granted.
Have fun just enjoy him!

when my son was four months which was only 6 months ago I used to give him lots of tummy playtime it does them good to play like this as it builds up the muscles in their necks and arms (just remember not to leave them alone like this) lots of brightly coloured item that make noises will entertain and also just talk or sing to them they love to hear your voice and know that you are there if you can invite a few mums over with their babies it's good for you to have some social time also.
