Right now, I have to remove the USB card from my motherboard, shut down win98, reinsert the USB card, boot up my windows 98 (pentium 233). Then insert the USB flash drive into the card. Sometimes, the USB flash drive is detected and it works. Sometimes, it is detected as an UNKNOWN Device. i.e. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Would be happy if someone has any idea/tips to make it work all the time :)

Try going to this wedsite for USB drivers. I think it'll be useful for you at this time. By the way, I think you should buy a new computer with windows XP, yours is too old now. Good luck!

It relatively would be that the mouse has bit the airborne dirt and dirt. I say purchase/borrow a usb mouse and attempt it. If the borrowed/offered mouse works then your previous mouse is busted. If it does no longer then you definitely extremely have a topic such as your laptop. have you ever tried all usb ports? i know that the front USB ports are linked by way of cord to the motherboard and that it could have been shaken unfastened indoors the flow.
