i know this person that goes deer hunting everyday of the season. it does not bother me however, it does his mom. still there is a time and place for everything. whats your opinion folks?

I do not see the correlation to gambling. Do you mean like it is an addiction that he cannot seem to get control of? Well I do not think there is a classified addiction to hunting, but if he cannot stop then I guess he could have a problem.
Why does his mom have such a problem with it? Is it the act of hunting she does not like, or that he is "wasting" his time doing it every day? If he is old enough to tell her to mind her own business then he should. If he is still a minor, then he needs to listen to his parents.
I guess to identify if he needs to be doing other things you need to ask if it is interfering with anything thing. Is it getting in the way of relationships (besides his mom, we established that, but girlfriends, friends, other family members)? Is it keeping him from being productive (ie losing work or dropping grades in school). If it is preventing him from being productive in life then yes, he has a problem. I do not think there is a group for this (maybe), but some counceling to see why he is so obsessed would help. If he just does it every day to blow off steam, enjoys it, and it does not adversely effect his life then who cares. It would be no different then someone who goes and plays basketball everyday to relieve stress. Long story short, I think it is overkill (pardon the pun) but if it does not hurt anyone let him do it.

Deer hunting and fishing have plenty of fanatics. Some have nothing better to do during the day, so they hunt or fish. As long as he has money to pay the bills, why not?

both my mom and step dad go hunting and my little brother got in the mix and has been hunting with them every day of the hunting season my mom doesn't do bow hunting though.
Every year they want me to take part but since I moved away I have no will to do it.
I mean every day. Morning to night.

well, i think, that its a fifty fifty chance, cuz you either get a deer, or you dont. so yea.
