i am a bridesmaid in a wedding in june and need to get my dress (it's already chosen) at david's bridal. my question is does anyone know how long it takes for them to be ordered? also do they discontinue often? The thing is that I recently lost 35 pounds and want to lose another 20 before the wedding, so i don't want to order one in the size that I am now that will require major alterations. But I am afraid that when I am ready to order it, they will not have it anymore! Thanks

I was just in a wedding and had to get a bridesmaid dress from David's. My dress came in 6 weeks. If there is time, wait to order 8 weeks before the wedding. They can alter the dress down 2 sizes without effecting the style of the dress. You haven't said when the wedding is, but I wouldn't wait longer than 2 seasons to order the dress because you have a higher chance that they'll discontinue the dress or the color. Be very careful - it is much better to take in a dress than to let it out, also at some point you run out of room to let out. If you order your current size or one size down, you should be safe.

As soon as possible, order your dress in the size you are now. Ordering can take 6-8 weeks. When it arrives, make an appointment with their tailor. She will know how far in advance of the wedding to book you. Order early so they don't run you to your deadline. I've heard of some bridal shops tailoring dresses on wedding day. If you allow them to do that, they'll ruin the happy day for everyone.

Honestly, it doesn't matter if they have to alter the dress a little or alot. From what I remember there is a charge for alterations, but you aren't charged by what you have done, just a flat fee. So just get the dress in the size that you feel will fit you. Just do your best to order a dress that will need to be taken in, not added to. If they have to add material then they will charge you additional charges. Not only that, but it will effect the look of the dress.
