Hi. If you are going to buy at car boot sales etc and sell on eBay, Put your start price at the amount you bought it for plus the listing fee, That way even if it sells at start price you don't lose any money. Always have your listing ending on a Saturday or Sunday evening as that is when most people use it. Explain in detail what you are selling what size it is, colour, shape, make, year it was made and by who.
I have been doing eBay now for 2 years and get a fairly good income and i buy all my items at car boot sales.

Be accurate and honest in your description,if something has any slight fault,no matter how small you might consider it ,mention it.
Be fair and reasonable with your postage charges, lots of sellers try and recoup their selling fees by overcharging on postage( sorry, not all sellers but there are an increasing number of "less honest" sellers)
Look out for special Ebay events eg 10p listing days or special offers on selling extras.
Be careful if you do decide to go down the Power Seller route and try and run a business through Ebay, they recently changed the charges and the listing placings for Ebay shops.
It is hard work but can be profitable.
And finally,be careful with Paypal. They will take fees from your account and refund buyers in dispute situations without your sayso, money will just go from your account!
I have also had my Paypal account hacked twice so no longer use it however there are thousands who use it daily with no problems.

Try listing you items so that they finish on a Sunday evening from about 6pm onwards, my boyfriend does this and he seems to get more people watching and bidding last minute on a Sunday than in the week, which results in the items selling for more.!!
Guess people have more time on Sundays to check EBay for things to buy.!!

1) check what similar items are selling for
2) make sure your title is very accurate, put as much info in as possible. Think about if you were looking for that particular item, what words would you search under?
3) in the description, put as much information as possible. If selling clothes, put all measurements on
4) make sure you have a good picture, 9/10 its the picture that sells the item
5) time it so your item ends at a time people you're targeting to sell to, will be online. i.e. i sell alot of womens clothes, best time to end is on evening after soaps have finished! My postman sells CD's to America, so ends them about midnight our time which is tea time in America!!!
6) check out my items on ebay to get a jist of how to list: mizzjulie1971
It is time consuming but good fun!

Yeah - dont bother. You'll never make serious money on ebay. Better to go selling at car boot sales.

Take good pictures of what you're selling and take advantage of all the "extras" eBay offers when selling (highlighting your item, bordering your item, etc.).
