let me first say good question money limit would help I'd say $0-$100 a music DVD of his favorite band
$100-$500 a full body (non erotic) massage
$500-$1000 a make over expert
$1000-$100000 (if you have this much money to spend hire someone to tell you what to get lol)

find out what his interests are. Is he a sporting guy? Golf? Baseball? Get something from the sports store or a gift certificate. Same thing if he is either a hunter or a fisherman.
Or buy him a engagement ring and propose to him at Christmas! That would really get his attention! haha.

Why does it have to be practical? If he has everything already, that just means you can get creative...how about an adult version of the home-made coupons? Redeemable for sex, a massage, a dinner out, a home cooked dinner, a strip tease, a bath/shower for two, a head massage, etc...
I'd love that kind of gift and I don't even have everything!!

Most guys are not into presents too much. We like things like a good dinner that has some thought put into it. Believe it or not, most of us won't admit it, but, we like candle light dinners and such. It makes us feel special. After dinner slip him a card telling him that you have another special surprise for him. I'll leave that one up to your imagination.

do something special for him. something you can't buy in a store. pamper him for a day.
make him a special breakfast, take him out somewhere for the day and dinner then stay at a B&B for the night and be a tigress in the sack. who won't use the word NO for that entire night.
then go home happy and exhausted.

Ask him what he wants if he says nothing than get him something cool like a nice watch or make him something.
