Do you lay on your stomach or in odd positions in your sleep? Odds are (unless you're 50 or older) in your sleep you lay on your arm, or if you sleep on your side get your arm in position that cuts down or cuts off the flow of blood to your arm.

See a doctor just to be sure - but if you are otherwise relatively healthy - thats whats going on.

Let me share an anecdote from my youth....
I would sleep on my stomach all the time and get tingly fingers as you described. One night I woke up (on my stomach).., and moved my left arm down from the pillow to my side......,

....., and I felt SOMEBODY's HAND under my stomach as if someone was sleeping opposite of me!!! I turned my head - no one was there - then I thought "OH MY GOD! A DEAD SEVERED ARM IS IN BED WITH ME!!!"

I jumped off the bed with lightning reflexes - and found that dead man's arm was mine as it dangled!! My circulation was completely cut off. I danced around like a fool, forcibly flopping my dead arm around to get circulation back into it (having no control over that arm).

The circulation returned but it seemed like an eternity and it was a little painful and extremely tingly. That was the only time I had this happen to that extreme - and it scared the fool out of me.

I've never had it but my fiance has, he was told that it's due to poor circulation. The closest I've come to such a thing is when i fell asleep with my arm bent behind my back and my arm went dead, when i woke up the next morning i couldn't find my arm and had lost all feeling in it so i literally didn't know where it was. I'm already a grumpy person in the morning and this really didn't help so i burst into tears. My fiance wet himself laughing at me which i thought was very mean!!

It rarely happens to me. Though, It could be from lack of exercise. Exercise provides a healthy strong blood flow, but if you lack it, it would be less. You can try doing some stretching before you sleep every night for a week and see if it helps. Also, it could be that you are sleeping on the arm and blocking circulation with your body weight applying to much pressure. Try a different position to see if it helps. If it persists, it's best to see a doctor

Could be a circulation problem, check with the doc. However, I do have that in the morning sometimes because I have either slept funny on my hand or arm, or had my arms above my head, which always makes them go numb. Still, always best to check out at the docs if you are concerned at all.

I wake up in the morning with what i call "morning hands"! You know when your hands feel so weak that you just cant grip anything?! Its a strange sensation.

In answer to your question, yes i do think its normal. Everybody at some point has woken up with dead arms, legs and cramp etc...

Ask your doctor about an exercise routine. Regular exercise, such as walking three times a week, may reduce neuropathy pain, improve your muscle strength and help control blood sugar levels. Gentle routines such as yoga and tai chi might also help.

an obvious circulation problem.
Go buy two herbs at health food store;
capsicum & ginko biloba. Take them daily.
Also, consider taking Omega 3 Essential Fatty Acids.
This should stop the problem & enhance circulation.

I had dead arms a few times...like completely dead.

The first time was damn scary. I freaked out, and started shaking around. I couldnt feel it and I couldnt move it. Felt like a dead limb hanging on me.

Makes me realize and be thankful for my blessings.
