I would say buy the macbook.
Whether your using it for graphics or word processing it just works. Apple comes with easy to use picture and music managing programs already on the system. PC's have to be upgraded (and in turn cost more) to meet the specs of a macbook.
The macbook also comes with a remote to operate movies and music while sitting away from the computer and a built-in camera for taking pics or video chatting. Plus, I agree with everyone else, viruses just are not a problem with a mac.
On top of all this, if there is any reason you want to use Windows, you can install that as well and use both operating systems whenever you want.
I hope this helps, I used windows for just over ten years and made the switch after trying out a mac at school. There is a learning curve, but for the most part apple is very intuitive.

I would go for the Macbook. With the new Intel chip you can use Mac or PC programmes. I have both and I must admit I use the Mac one the most because it's much more portable and I carry it around a lot. The only programme that I want that I can't use on the Powerbook is Publisher but I have Pages which is like "Publisher on steroids". It is much sleeker looking and very easy to use. I find the PC one a bit chunky and you have to do virus scans every day.

also think about security. Macs are notably not as often attacked as usual windows laptops/PC.
Reason: since not so many ppl have macs, viruses and security holes arent used to harm ur PC.
and simple as that mac does look a lot better.
