The Presidential elections in the United States are held every 4 years. The last elections of this type were held in 2004, so the next will be taking place in 2008.

There are elections for Federal offices held every two years, however, so voters are going to the polls to cast their votes in a few weeks. The major offices that are to be voted on are seats in both the Senate and House of Representatives.

No one knows who the candidates will be for President in two years. The United States Consitution, the highest law in this country, states that Presidents can only serve two elected terms. Since Pres. Bush is midway through his second term, he will not be elegible.

So why hasn't anyone stepped up to say they are running for office? Because it is way too soon to begin campaigning. Two years is an eternity in American politics, and conditions are sure to change between now and then. Even the voters aren't sure who will be in the race until about 6 months before the election.

The elections are in 2008. The word is "nominee" not contestants. Contestants is a word to describe people who go on tv game shows...

Don't even bother voting. Bush and other presidents are elected ONLY by THIS secret and evil group that's been in control of everything for far too long!...
