im 26 and having trouble getting pregnant. ive never had a smear test done as i hate the thought of it.
Could me not having a smear test be a reason for me not getting pregnant?

You really should have the test done. I know I sound as though I am nagging but it really is very important. The thought of lying there with your legs spread is a terrible thought but thats just what you will have to do when you are pregnant.
I had a smear two years ago and they found abnormal cells. They have now been removed and I have been clear for the past 18 months. If I hadn't gone it is horrible to think how far they could have progressed.
It is also better to check you are clear before getting pregnant as I am shouldn't think any surgery could be performed 'down there' once you are pregnant x

ok so your 26 an never had a smear test? Im 24 and didnt have a smear test since i was 16...now my test came back abnormal and 2moro im going to be put to sleep to have my cells removed.im dredding it, so whats best here is to just book you a smear and be safe now than to have probs like me (and many many other women out there) Ps would not advise getting preggers until your smear result comes back ok, otherwise your dodgy cells (if you have any) wwont be able to be treated until about 3 months after baby is born.
Smear tests are not too bad, you jus feel a slight scratch and it dont take long

I think many of these answers already sum it up - GO AND GET IT DONE!! Thousands of women do it each day and it really isn't that bad. Please be brave and just do it - you will either get the all clear (big relief) or you will find out that you may have a problem but it can then be treated. What do you hate the thought of more - having a smear test or getting cancer??

No-one likes the thought of a smear test. They're hideous. But it's just one of those things you have to brace yourself and do. If all is okay it's only every 3 years. It can't stop you getting pregnant not getting one, but if you have anything (even something small) wrong it won't have got picked up so you wouldn't know. Be brave and go.

Had mine today! Not having the test itself wont cause problems but not having a problem diagnosed through having the test done will - does this make sense? There are lots of causes of infertility - you will need to have some tests & a pap smear will probably be one of them - sorry. (its not that bad! Ask around your friends to find a good doc. I had one once who put me on my side to do it and it wasnt as uncomfortable that way)

no but i could be a reason to find out you have cancer like i did your how old PLEASE you and everyone reading this educate yourself on this issue paps are so important to have girl go like yesterday.get off your assss today now and make that appt.i dont want toscare anyone but the women that where on the cancer floor in the hospital with me were under the age of 30 please go.

its really NOT that bad.. if your not comfortable having a male doctor check you get a lady doctor.. that should make you feel better i HOPE

no its nothing to do with you not getting pregnant, but for your own good, get one done as it does show up problems with that area

You should have it done. . . . . . . no-one likes it but it could save your life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go to your local nurse and have it done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! before it is too late!!!
