both places are great
i'd pick up moscow for crazyness and you have to see that at least once in your life (or st petersburg !)
the thing is it is advised to speak a little russian too ;)
so if u are not familiar with russian, choose nyc
also nyc is much more expensive than moscow !!

Moscow but be aware it could get very,very wild and be freezing cold! The Russian are great party-animals... I think greeting 2007 on the Red Square is once in a life-time experience! Nasdarowje...
