I may be pointing out the obvious here but a healthy diet (low salt, fat and sugar, lots of fruit, veg, wholegrain and a little quality protein) and plenty of exercise is the best medicine. Some herbs can help, such as saw palmetto - ask at a health food store.

I have Type 2 w/ insulin injections. Lowering the sodium levels is essential to both problems. Lots of fresh, unprocessed vegetables and fruits. For the blood pressure, medication has been prescribed. Check with your pharmacist first to check for drug interactions. Then you could try nutmeg, ground and a pinch place under the tongue to dissolve. Also drinking vinegar will thin the blood and reduce the pressure. Both these remedies are natural, but taste awful. You must consult your doctor or pharmacist before adding anything as it might either lesson or strengthen a particular medication.

The best that I have ever tried - so far - is available on the internet to buy - it's MUKTAVATI - from India. herbal formula which helps quite a bit - but not completely. buy it & try it - Do a google-search or call 229-377-9428.

Also good is Tibetan herbal pills: BLOOD PRESSURE SUPPORT
617-666-8635. You can combine both of them for better effect.

I've tried everything under the sun which money can buy = these are the best out of all of them. NOt perfect - mind you - but they can help a lot.

All the best - may God heal you from this disease.

As they have said already, keep your weight down have some gentle exercise daily, and have some Acupuncture.

Don't take Asprin unless you have already had a stroke of some kind, and if you do, take it after meals (75mg).

Anything way over 140/90 is not good, but remember it goes up and down all the time.
When you go to your Quack it will usually be up. The White Coat Sydrome is what they call that.

They say that Ayavirdic (?) treatment is good. So go see an Indian Doctor who practises that.

Natural medicines should be used as adjunct therapy for disorders, If you already have high blood pressure, then you need to take a prescribed medication. the result of hypertension ( high blood pressure) left untreated is kidney disease-leads to dialysis;stroke, heart attack are the three big ones. This is not a disorder to mess around with or ignore. It is termed the "silent killer" for a reason.

Depends on why you have high blood pressure. Mine is caused by missing a left kidney therefore I have no control over it. If yours is caused by familiy/weight you may be able to control it by diet.

Stay away from salt (in the form of both regular salt and the kind that comes from processed food from a box and fast food).
Exercise
Eat balanced meals

garlic is excellent, also fish oil and a calcium/magnesium supplement. I have this problem also. I just read that eating two red grapefruits per day will lower your blood pressure better than taking stantin drugs. It can't hurt to try. I smoke, which is my biggest culprit.
