I am of the old school and believe that the English language is important. When texting your friends then use text but when asking a question to the general public i fell that most people would like you to write in proper English When writing an essay for school, college or university are you writing in text or English and how are your grades. I'm sure that they could be better if you did not use the easy option. But at the end of the day it is up to you to decide what you feel comfortable using just be sure that the person you are sending it to can understand and not everyone can.

Not everyone's first language is English. Some people have difficulties enough writing in English, let alone understand the short stuff. I'm not English and if things are not written normal I tend not to read it, simply because I mostly just don't understand it. I've picked up a few things along the way, but I like it better when it's in plane English.

Text form is for sms messages, as the keyboard on a mobile phone is limited and it may become frustrating to type in full. It also helps to save space.
It is unadvisable to use this on any other medium, especially when using a full sized keyboard as there is no need, and also simply for making it easier for others to read. But the real bonus may be that other people will not instantly recognise you as under-educated or spelling-challanged.

At 22 you really should have learned to write properly by now. It looks better on a cv you know!
I find it difficult to write in text form, and I certainly cannot understand what anyone is trying to say when reading it.

I guess that I am just behind the times. I prefer to read full sentences so I write full sentences. If it's an agreement between you, go ahead and '' txt mmsg '', but if it's not, I think it's rude to continue. It really takes more time and energy to decipher that than to go ahead and write it out. How much time is being saved by taking the '' e '' out of the word text ? I guess that I am just LAME.

When answering in this medium ,theres no excuse other than bone idleness, or ignorance to be writing in text,it also gives away your age your obviously very young.Stop being lazy and show people you can use the english language properly.

well it would help us understand the questions better instead of getting the code book out...write in full...text is just another way of easy typing on a phone...my son text writes and it's so annoying, i can never make out what he's saying

It's easier to read proper English!
I am too lazy (and maybe a tad too old) to bother translating abbreviated words!
I will not usually bother anserwing a question written in 'text-speak'
You better practice your writing, or you examiners are going to have fun!
