The egg.... i answered this before and that bastard didn't give me the best answer. I read it in the newspaper, that a group of scientists said so.
Because the egg that contained the first chicken, was the first chicken egg to exist. And the egg it's itself a cell.
This is basing on the theory of evolution, and assuming, therefore than the chicken it's a mutation of an inferior animal.

Eggs. Soft eggs got invented by fish, long before there were chickens. Hard eggs, with minerals in them, got invented by reptiles (I think). Either way, eggs had been around a long time before birds started using them.
If your question was "which came first, chickens or chicken eggs" then there's no answer. What happened was a long time ago there were animals that weren't chickens that laid eggs that weren't chicken eggs. Later there were chickens laying chicken eggs. In between the birds and the eggs both gradually changed. It's a matter of opinion exactly when the animal became a chicken, or when the egg became a chicken egg. So there's no way to draw a line where everyone would agree.

It's a paradox for some. The chicken had to be there to lay the egg, but then there had to be an egg for that chicken to hatch from . . . you get the idea.
I agree with the first post. The chicken probably came first. I'm not saying I know, as I wasn't there to see the first chicken, but I'm willing to keep an open mind about that.

According to the theory of quantum physics, both the chicken and the egg actually came at the exact same moment in time. The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle was created in order to account for this anomaly.
The chicken and the egg are the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the Matrix. They are, the eventuality of an anomaly which, despite my sincerest efforts, I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise, a harmony, of mathematical precision

The chicken had to develop from another bird so the egg came first but was from another 'chicken type' bird. So in reality the egg came first but anohter bird was before the egg.

The egg. Every day we eat someone has eggs for bfast. You never hear of someone have a chicken for bfast. So by this theory the egg came first. Hey if scientists can come to a conclusion without making sense, so can I.

The answer is neither.
First life was in the oceans, aqueous.
Cellular life evolved into organisms and evolution carried on from there.... until something developed which replicated itself via an 'egg' of sorts ... RNA duplication .... millions of years .... until some critter most like a crocodile like fish, flopped on land to lay its eggs so that other critters wouldnt eat them , and / or in droughts, the first 'eggs' like frogs, were hatched on land .... and then millions more years , and then there were birds, which evolved , until people came along, and bred birds, until they got one they liked and called it chicken .
The first man who did this was named Colonel Sanders. People loved his chickens.... alll except the Goths ... they preferred to steal his eggs and make omelets. So you see .... neither the chicken nor the egg came first ..... first came the frog and lizard.
There is another option tho .... I have heard that God really loved the aliens from the other side of Pleiades, and it was those beings who seeded earth, who are our ancestors, and that evolution really didnt happen. We are all intelligently designed, ie, the aliens landed here to start over, since they blew up their own world with atomic weapons, global warming, diseases, lack of water, and very bad sit-coms. They also brought their chickens with them, in the form of cryogenically frozen eggs. This is why, to this day, humanity eats fried eggs for breakfast, and chicken for dinner.
