Great question and one I have often been curious about myself, have you seen the latest Evans advert on TV, that really makes my blood boil, those models are not even what you would call plus size, for me showing clothes from a shop that specialises in plus size fashion it should be proud to flaunt the larger lady on TV in its adverts to totally corner the market and to make a stand, even going in their shops is hilarious too, most of the assistants in the Evans shops within a 25 mile radius of me are stick insects who have no idea what its like to be large, yet try to get you to buy clothes that just do nothing for you, in this day and age were more and more people are plus size in clothes it really is about time they brought us out of the closet and showed us for what we are and not try to hide us away from society, the sooner we have large models on the catwalk and on TV, the sooner the kids of today will learn you don't have to be a stick insect to fit in to society, I have never been ashamed or afraid of my size, my husband loves me for me, I love bright colours and can fit in with the best of them, wish fashion plus shops would show their clothes off on a large models and stop giving in to media and society..

I've heard it said that most top fashion designers are really designing the clothes with young boys in mind, which would require the androgynous form of the super-skinny model.
Look back in the 50's or even 40's, real women were models. Marylin Monroe wore a size 16 all her life and she is considered one of the most beautiful women in movie history.
I think it's time real women took some kind of a stand against the Barbie-doll fake image of the supermodels. We after all are the immense majority and it's normal women who spend most on clothes!
Here in Spain the Pasarela Cibeles did not accept models below a metric size 38 which is about a size 6 here. Let us hope the trend continues.

Yeah it's gross (extremely skinny), I don't care what anyone says boney ribs and hips are not attractive.
Makes um' look like drug addicts.
I'm 5'5 and weight 125 (which is prefect I wouldn't want to weight any less), but I've weighted 132 before and I looked just fine.

i agree to your point, i think natural beauty must be given priority no matters if he/she is slightly overweight. i guess skinny shows on ramps is just setting an wrong example in front of upcoming genre..
artificial or only makeup oriented beauty must not be an trend setters

There are. They are called plus size models and some of them are very beautiful. They are just not considered to be 'real' models. Their shows are not advertised or shown on t.v. They are kept on the back burner. And it is a sad thing.
