I think free speech is something the Western World embraces and long may that be so. No politicians, even US Presidents are above criticism by those they serve. It would be good if a few more of them read the postings on Yahoo Answers to get a real feel of how things are 'in the sticks' rather than through the lens of the media and their advisers.

America is still a democracy, right? No, people who criticise the government should never be 'guilty' of anything, as they help contribute to the making of a more advanced rational society. They take current policy, adapt it, change it, suggest alternatives, which are frequently implemented later by the same governments or by later ones. If government's weren't criticised, we wouldn't have the Patriot act to begin with. And things should always be open to suggestion - that way we achieve the best possible society.

Yes when the Freedom of Speech is prohibited. Note that at Prime Minister question time the main purpose is to question, hold to account and sometime insult the competency of the PM and other members of the cabinet. That is why the design of the Commons and Lords is a combatant set-up. To confront, and in doing so provide a most basic necessary ingredient to modern politic-shame!

They're guilty of living in the U.S. which has a Constitution, Bill of Rights and Freedom. There are certain things you cannot do, such as threatening life of President. As for Patriot Act, DAMNFINO, but I'm not a rag-head look alike.

People that speak badly of President bush have the right to express their opinion. However if it goes into the threat stage, then yes they have crossed the line and are guilty of threatening the president which does not go over well with the secret service.

Yeah... we are guilty of being Americans with a freedom of speech that is still being protected by OUR constitution...
turn your clocks back several years and watch the power of the ignorant and corrupt work together to start to turn this country into a fascist dictatorship.
This is how it happens...

I don't think saying something bad about a brainless buffoon is an offence.
Here in the UK, we love our colonial cousins but BUSH has wasted a great opportunity for countries to work together with his mindless Foreign Policy, dictated to him by big business and the Saudis (oil).

well I think anybody that follows a moron is a moron, and if you want to see if you can push that in to a law to have all of the people beheaded that speak in a negative manner towards the idiot than go for it, I personally can't see how anybody can still support this idiot we have for a president but than again I didn't vote for him either, so no I would have to disagree with you, I think it is our right to say whatever our opinion is on anything and anyone, it is called free speech, that is unless the republicans have taken that away from us while I was sleeping
