There was a case where such people got caught out. The most famous example of this is the English case of Cahill v. The Carbolic Smoke Ball Co. A company making smoke balls as an antidote to influenza advertised in the national press that any one who bought their product, used it in the manner directed, and still caught influenza within a certain period, would receive £100. Mrs Cahill decided to take them up on the offer, bought the smoke balls, applied them, and duly caught influenza. The first that the company ever knew of Mrs Cahill was when they received her letter demanding £100. They refused to pay, saying that no reasonable person would consider their advertisement to have been an offer capable of being accepted. The judges disagreed. They also argued that their advertisement had not been an offer at all, but rather, was a mere "puff" to promote the product. The judges disagreed with this too.

So these people haven't always won. But they have become more cunning over the years!

masses are deceived by 2 things, numbers and words. as long as u make words long enough to make it difficult for them to understand, you rock! and be sure that only one in a million will ask what you are talking about. (if (s)he isn't busy!)
