some perhaps are and some perhaps are not. If employees thinks that they are in a dead end job, they are not going to be all that motivated. If on the other hand they think that they have an opportunity to advance in the organization they are going to have some motivation to do so. Generally speaking, bosses got to be bosses because they were motivated. The old expression creme float to the top somewhat applies to organizations, but not always. There is another expression that could also apply to organizations, too crude to repeat, but nevertheless applicable.

The bosses have vision for their businesses and they set goals. In order to achieve the goals set by them, naturally they have to get motivated all the time. They cannot afford to let slip their attention. Though most of the times the bosses win (make profits in the process), they have to face the chance of losses too when that happens. An employee on the other hand gets his/her pay at the end of the month, whether the boss makes a profit or a loss at the end. If the employee sets a goal like moving up in the organization or landing up in a better job elsewhere, naturally he/she too would get motivated. It all depends on one's goal setting and the passion to achieve it.
