I know in the future, China will be the major power player on the international affairs.

but first, I want to know, how far the have the Chinese shifted the power from the U.S.?

In other words, so far how much power the U.S. has lost to China, in dealing with the international matters? How much influence does China have to the world?

I know that France is no longer considered as a super power, and so as to the European nations.

In terms of economic and diplomatic power the People's Republic of China is building on the world stage. It's recent 9% annual economic growth rates (esepcially considering the size of its economy to begin with) are staggering. But their average GNP per capita still remains at around $US7000, conpared with the US' $45,000, which demonstrates that their standard of living still lags behind that of hte developed world.
Diplomatically China has remained a world power since the end of WWII (even though its communist leaders were only given due recognition during the 1970's). The EP-3 Spy-plane incident in 2001 has also demonstrated that China is willing to tackle the United States on issues of sovereignty. It's military is said to rival the USA's by 2030, and it already has the world's largest standing army. But unlike the USA it is not dominant in world afairs outside of its own immediate interests (see Tibet, Taiwan, even North Korea are more motivated by self-interest).
Its main barrier to further recognition and progress remians the tarnished international reputation events such as the Tiananmen Sqquare massacre have earned it. Hopefully, if the world enjoys the Olympics enough in 2008 they'll be able to move forward.

China to a degree since the beginning of the 80's has always been viewed as a super power militarily. Its economic power is the fastest growing in the world. It is and will continue to be a major player on the world stage both militarily, and economically.

Very informative response Liz but... "Hopefully, if the world enjoys the Olympics enough in 2008 they'll be able to move forward. "

Hopefully? You want a country who has one of the worst human rights records to move forward on the international stage? A communist country that oppresses its citizens? Censors what and from who their citizens can attain information from? Regulates the number of births per family and discourages female births? Are you in favor of communism? You want them to move forward??????

You folks better wake up. China is no friend to freedom. China does not respect anyone but China.
