If you need cheap slime, then home made is probably the way to go.
I have included a list of a few sites with recipes. I did a google search and found thousands using this search "slime recipe"
One of the sites (bizarrelabs) has a recipe that has borax and guar gum. I used to work at a museum and we tried one that used those ingredients and were dissapointed with the results. We then got goofy and started playing around with it and for some reason or another we added powdered Alka Seltzer to it and micro waved it. It made some of the finest goo I have ever played with. The main drawback to it was that it decomposed in a few hours to a watery mess. We used to make it up and use it in a couple of our presentations and then trash it before it got too messy to use any more. I do not remember the exact formula we used except that I remember that we followed a set of directions and then added the step of adding some powderd alka seltzer and microwaving it for a bit.
