The people talking about why different skin colors are preferable in different environments are right. The facial features are a bit different. What happened with those, is people didn't move around a whole lot until recently. Yes, there were invading armies and such like, but most people stayed in the area they were born into. Since the populations were effectively isolated, they started to evolve a bit differently looks-wise. If the isolation had continued for millions of years, it's possible that some populations may have diverged enough to become different species. Of course, we didn't have nearly that much time, but small changes were able to occur, giving a definite "look" to various ethnic populations.

Take a look at red hair. The mutation that caused red hair occured in Ireland. I think it happened elsewhere, too? But it's definitely most common in the Irish. The average Irish person wasn't gallavanting off, marrying a French person, let alone someone from Asia or Africa, so that gene largely stayed within the Irish population, along with the related gene for pale, freckly skin. Thanks to that, when you see a red head with pale skin and freckles, you can be fairly sure that they've got a few ancestors from Ireland. Same with other populations. Native Americans got the killer cheekbones. They weren't mixing with any other populations until 1492, and the various tribes weren't mixing with each other all that much, either. So now you can tell that Johnny Depp has some Cherokee blood because he's got those gorgeous cheekbones. Enough of those minor variations built up over time so that it's terribly easy to place a person's ancestors by continent, and, with a bit of practise, pretty easy to even do by country or geographical area.

Genetic drift seems to have produced the differences in physical features seen between different ethnic groups around the world. Most of it really comes down to the historic isolation of poulations with randomly different genetic makeup. In some cases, this is paired with situations where one version of a feature is better adapted to the local environment.

For instance, darker skin is a benefit in equatorial climates, as it is protective against skin cancer which would be produced by the stronger sun at these latitudes. On the other hand, dark skin is a drawback in northern climes. It blocks too much of the sun and leads to deficiencies in Vitamin D (which our bodies synthesize when the skin is struck by sunlight).

So, near the equator, those with darker skin will remain healthy longer (on average) and produce more children during their lifetimes (also on average). Eventually (many tens of thousands of years), the genes producing darker skin have spread throughout the local population.

Some people are "identical twins" and so have the same skin colour, anatomy, and facial features.

Maybe from a duck's point of view we all look the same anyway.

I guess our sense perception is so refined in this aspect that we can see differences.

Why? God only knows.

the color of skin is different because of the different environments people live in. africans, south americans, and other groups that live near the equator are darker skinned because they live in the area of the world where the sun is the most visible. people who live in the northern and southern parts of the world, such as scandinavians, have lighter skin, because the sun doesnt shine on their part of the world as much. as for anatomy, im not sure i understand, doesnt everyone have a heart, lungs, brain, etc.? and for facial features, well, im not sure, maybe it has to do with where they live as well.

well....of course we are different races. Taxonomically, we are all the same genus and species. However, due to the variations in our physical qualities, one can argue that we are different species of the same genus. But who cares? We're all equal....it doesn't matter.

it's just the way God created us. and i guess we all have different skin colors depending on which part of the world we're from.
plus it's a way of identifying each other, i mean if everybody looked alike how do we tell them apart?!
