Every culture believes in a form of a dragon. The examples are woven through the history of all humankind.
I think it is from some distant but fundamental memory of survival that people(most people) are afraid of reptiles.

I seem to end up repeating this alot... the programs on Animal Planet and the like are fictional. They aren't real and there is no evidence of dragon existing. Don't believe people that tell you they these programs are based on real events. There is no scientific evidence for dragons (e.g., fossils, DNA samples).
There might be real animals in the sea that look like dragons. Noone knows. No sightings have been backed up by verified scientific evidence to date. This does not mean the sightings are false. It just means we don't know the truth yet. You can find a lot about sea serpents online.

Some cryptzoologists are still looking for dragons. I imagine they won't look like what most people are expecting... modern fantasy and ancient mythology dragons look pretty different. It would be fair to assume anything found would look more mythological.

One thing to keep in mind with traditional beliefs, not all cultures need scientific proof. Some are happy to believe that dragons exist without being able to see one. It is more of a spiritual belief. Maori taniwha beliefs are a good example of that, as is the Australian rainbow serpent. Below is a news story where a road was delayed due to a taniwha.

And finally a few dragon mythology links, if you'd like to find more about the stories:

Well, scientific evidence to prove the existence of the dragons was found some yrs back in the Carapathian mountains, Romania. British researchers found 2 intact frozen bodies of a mother dragon & a daughter dragon. They had 6 limbs- 2 hands, 2 legs & 2 wings. They had 4 lungs in their bodies- 2 for breathing & 2 for storing hydrogen. The adult dragon was found to be as big as a whale. For more information in this regard, pleaz e-mail me on dyasno1@yahoo.com.

The dragon is creature that many cultures have within their mythology. A dragon, as a real creature, has never existed. But do you ever notice that a dragon and a dinosaur look very similar in appearance, Maybe ancient peoples have found fossils of these dinosaurs and called them dragons.England also has the dragon within its mythology.

I believe they did and still do, just hard to find. They are very powerful magic users and shape shifters.
When you encounter one the neck hairs should go up and you should feel a deep chill, dread without knowing why.
Stay away.

Dragons were all made of cartalige, hence no fossil records are available. If they had bones they would not have been able to fly.
