I got it over a week ago at about 2pm and it is dated 26/11/05. Do I still need to pay it?

Ask them for the photo of your vehicle.
Most ticket issuers will take a digi shot before they issue the ticket.
Get the shot then you can prove that the date is incorrect.
It is their mistake and you won't have to pay it. Make sure you get enough supporting evidence together though otherwise it can get quite messy. I suggest going into your local council office and informing them in there. Although they may not be able to do anything from there they can log your enquiry, ask for a print out/receipt of your visit.

You should get 14 days to appeal against it in writing... I strongly suggest you do this, if they persist, there may be another 14 day period from the date they tell you your appeal failed.... Appeal again... in writing.... and keep doing it.

My dad got let off a ticket (£80) because they used a drop down menu on thier computerised ticket machine, they cocked it up and claimed he had parked an 'Austin 80' on yellow lines not an 'Audi 80'. They had all the other information correct, even a photograph of the Audi parked well and truly on the double yellow's.. but it was not enough, if you cast doubt on one peice of the info taken and it goes to court thay may loose, and they pay out more than the £80 they were trying to fine you.

Quite often, ANY misstake on the ticked can be used to get you off the fine, also worth checking that any parking markings (yello lines etc) are not broken, have proper end markings, are properly signed at the roadside etc.

I'm not promising a result.... but it's well worth a try.

Good luck.

No, why would you get a ticket with 05 on it, last year? I got a notice in the mail from Baltimore of a parking ticket, thing is I never been there and no one uses my car but me. I called them long distance as I got letters from them every month and the ticket was over $200! I was just put on hold, I wrote them and said this was my last attempt to clarify and since I was ignored and put on hold I would consider any more notices as harassment and sent a copy as well to the city attorneys office there. I heard nothing more.

Do not pay it. That ticket is EVIDENCE. It is contemporaneous notes.Had it been correct it will be produced as evidence in court. You are a lucky B, on no account pay that fine. The evidence against you is incorrect and therefore worthless. DO NOT part with that ticket, to anyone.

I reckon you should definitely contact the council about it because you never know whether it could be your fault or the council in question , who knows it could even be someone else's fault! But I'd try and work out where and who the car was with on that day if possible! Gd Luck

Just send them a letter saying where you were on that day. (don't phone as you want proof of the contact with them). If they say it was a mistake don't accept that and refuse to pay, the ticket is not valid.

Hi I had the same exept that they put a wrong digit, you dont need to pay the fine as it is wrong it has to be the right details on the ticket, anything wrong and you dont pay.if anything is wrong you dont pay..keep the ticket and they will have to prove that its your ticket and thats gonna be very hard to do..lucky you

I'd be inclined to speak to a solicitor just to be sure. Most of them will be happy to give you free advice over the phone, on the off chance that they can make money from you!

you can try but I'm guessing that this may cost you more to get out of than paying.... go to the council and let them know that you are thinking about contesting it because it was filled in wrong, they will probably say that they will see you in court.... at that point I would pay
