Yeah, gore just makes me wanna hawk up my lunch, and it does nothing for me. I mean, you want a good scary movie without all the blood and guts everywhere, then watch Poltergeist. No blood, no gore, (Okay, one exception where a guy rips his own face of,) but hey, people, it was made in 1982, and it's rated PG so how much gore could they fit into it? Anyway great movie, great point. Gore would just ruin it more.

Horror movies didn't always have that gory, "blood & guts" feel about them, and most are scarry thrillers, with a few grotesque scenes for good measure. My belief is that film makers are competitve in visual efects. and in attemps to out-do each other they go overboard. And in usual lower budget horror films this means alot of gorey and not much storey...
An excellent spooky storey well told and written does'nt need the overwhelming special effects to make it scarry, a good example is ," HALLOWEEN'.

I can't agree more. If i watch a horror movie i want to be on edge the whole time, when i want to see blood gore and guts i'll get a "b" action flick. I suggest you see house on haunted hill (GREAT SCARY HORROR)

I couldn't agree more. Movies today have gone way beyond gore and disgusting. When that horse got cut in half in "The Cell" with J Lo, I thought I was gonna puke. But when the GUY got cut in half in that movie about the haunted automated house...... My gosh, as you say, we just want to be entertained, not loose our lunch!

I agree, too much blood & gruesome make up is disgusting. So I tend to remember the horrible images rather than the story. I prefer watching 'clean' ghosts & evil spirits to zombies & half dead.
