<>.pdf are portable document files and cannot be opened in MS Word without being converted. You can download a trial version here: http://www.docsmartz.net/asp/pdf_word.asp

You can export a document to PDF reader - Acrobat, but you cant open a document .doc file in word. You need a Acrobat Reader to open the same. Else the document will show up as mumbo-jumbo! The reader is freely available on Acrobat's and many other websites.

To modify contents of the same you need the Acrobat Writer. However you can open the document in Acrobat and select few section and paste the same in word so that you can edit the same.

You need to open pdf files in Adobe, which you can download for free here http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readermain.html

No need to go to download.com as this is the direct link to the program.
