I thought this happened in Germany and places close to there? Why do we need to see monuments in San Francisco and L.A.....and Phoenix..and...? I just dont understand it.
There are more Holocaust Monuments for something that happened in Europe than there are Slavery monuments.

The majority of surviving jews migrated to the U.S. after the event. Why wouldnt there be many "remebrance" places constructed for the purpose of honor. We all are part of something horrible that happened in history. Regardless of your family origon. And I agree with you about the period of slavery not having the honor of more places of reflection. Perhaps is something you could pledge to your local state authority. There is plenty of money in each state currently to construct something like that. Something to think about.

I can give you 6 million reasons why.....6 million dead Jews. They are placed as reminders of what the world went through in order that it does not happen again.
During world war two America was told what was going on in Europe and decided not to act. Not until the Japanese did their sneak attack di the US feel threatened. They joined the fight towards the end, and again it was a world war and the monument is intended for the world to remember that would include your country.
Slavery is America's little shame, not a world wide event.

Because Jew's have lived everywhere in the United States. They want mememorials to those friends and loved ones they lost. Its a way of telling future generations "See, Evil can happen here, and it can happen again"

monuments are erected by those who survived, and most of the survivors left Europe, many of them emigrated to the US, they are the ones who funded and took care of the establishment of those monuments.
