No world war has taken place since UN came into existence. Is it exclusively due to UN? The League of Nations could not prevent Second World War, what special about UN due witch it did not witness any world war since 1945?
The egoistic pursuits seems to be proving futile with advanced means of destruction. Limits seems to have been defined for hitherto unrestrained destructive egos. Creation of matter rather than its destruction for ego sake seems to have gained primacy. Survival of the wealthier rather than mightier seems to be gaining importance. Are brave acts are really considered to be foolish as well as bullish sort of behaviour? Does UN really have impacts deeper than it is thought to be?

The UN has done a good job for the most part dealing with issues diplomatically. It is when some higher than mighty countries decide to be rogue nations and invade other countries on false pretences the system fails. The UN was decidedly against the war in Iraq and Bush/Blair and several other countries decided they would do it their way. Now the only thing they got out of it is, one man out of power, a nation in chaos on the brink of civil war, 655,000 dead civilians and over 3000 dead soldiers collectively in a war they now admit they don't think they can win.

The UN has got only 1 thing to its positive credit. The Creation of the State of Israel. After that it went down hill fast. The first military action of the UN is still in effect. The Korean Conflict.

The United Nations Organization is a relic of the 20th Century. It has no authority over real nations

The UN is worthless. Too many resolutions with no enforcement, too many programs run without checks & balances, too many dictatorship countries sitting on primary commitees, etc.

BTW, I consider the war against terrorists worldwide a new world war, which the UN has done nothing to address.
