I couldn't care less about celebrities. It's very annoying when these insignificant people are in the mainstream news, outside of the entertainment news.

i totally concur. and then people actually feel sorry for these ignoramuses because they are stalked by the paparazzi or they have "so much pressure" to look a certain way and are constantly scrutinized. they should feel sorry for the students who have to work double shifts constantly in order to pay for tuition but will still accrue a substantial amount of debt from student loans. or the single diner waitress who works in the middle of the night so that she can sleep while her kids are at school and take care of them when they get home... just to name a couple of people who should really be cared about.

Somebody has asked this question before, and I got a best answer for that, so I'll just stick to that, then.
People are obsessed with celebrities because they reflect what everyone wants to be. Perfect, good-looking, rich, these people seem to have it all.
Also, being famous DOES look glamourous and all that, doesn't it? Who wouldn't like being known world-wide as an amazing singer or actor? Or something else, maybe? Of course, you don't care about them at all, but you have to admit that they do seem to have perfect lives, don't they? While some couldn't care less, some people do wish to have that kind of lives.
Of course, not all people obsess with celebrities because they seem to be perfect. Teenagers just obsess. It's a stage all teenagers go through.

EXACTLY! who the heck cares if paris and lindsay became friends again, I mean people get a life. Those people obviously don't have one cuz they caught up in everybody elses. I'm with you, I love my life and can care less about anybody elses. It sucks we get daily coverage of these rich snobs, but yet we fail to realize and acknowledge all this poverty, and children without homes... we really need to teach our children better things on the media about life, and not people who I wouldn't dare let be influences on my future kids (no children)... good point for brining that up, Im happy someone else thinks the same.

I agree. the females are overly loopy about them. and that i might want to agree that no women might want to fall for truly some the single course adult males, pretty Harry kinds who's a concepts goofy searching. If Zayn Malik replaced into an popular guy i might want to nevertheless fall for him. Lol... repute equals charm truly some the time for us women. Oh and btw, they are gifted. they have angelic voices. Justin Bieber's voice now feels like a sandpaper rubbing on timber. i will not stand that little (and particularly attractive) bastard.

i couldnt agree more! i think some people are obsessed because they dont really have much of a life of there own..or they are disillusioned into thinking that celebrities have very glamorous lives when most of the time there lives are really screwed up

This is because they feel inferior and what to remove this complexity from themselves so just try to copy celeb to show that they are "in trend" or "are fashionable and stylish"

because they're america's gods, their royalty. we don't have a king & queen, but celebs are treated like kings and queens.
i don't find them interesting because they're good-looking or talented.... they're NOT. i find them interesting because they're able to live differently than any other normal american i know. they're living in a fantasy land, but yet it's real. such is hollywood..
