'Impeach Blair' bid moves closer
Plaid Cymru's Adam Price says Blair must be brought to book
A Commons motion to impeach Tony Blair for "gross misconduct" over the Iraq war is being published next week.
Parliamentary officials have approved the motion's wording and will allow it to be tabled on Wednesday - the day after the Queen's Speech.
MPs will have the chance to sign the order paper. The Speaker will then decide whether to allow a debate on it.
Plaid Cymru's Adam Price said 30 MPs have agreed to sign the motion which charges Mr Blair with improper conduct.
The allegation against the prime minister would be that in making the case against Iraq he was guilty of a serious breach of constitutional principles.
Mr Price said that the impeachment process had now been established as part of British Parliamentary practice.
Trafalgar
It closed a "gap in the constitution" which had meant that while the prime minister had to hold his ministers to account, there was nothing to hold the prime minister to account if he were to mislead Parliament.
If passed, the motion would set up a committee of MPs to examine Mr Blair's conduct over the war.
"It (Wednesday) will be an historic occasion as it will be the first time since Trafalgar, we think, that an impeachment motion has appeared on an order paper," Mr Price added.
The Camarthen East MP said his motion had cross-party support, but few Labour MPs are thought likely to sign it for fear of losing the party whip.
Conservative MPs are being instructed not to sign the motion and the Liberal Democrats are divided on the issue.
Downing Street says Tony Blair has already been cleared by four separate inquiries into the pre-war intelligence on Iraq.
Donald Anderson, the Labour Swansea East MP and chairman of the Commons foreign affairs committee, has dismissed the plan as a "no-hoper" and a "political stunt".

Straight answer is NO, his party could and if he loses a major vote in Parliament he would have to call a general election, but the man (or woman) in the steet can do nothing. His deputy is John Prescott, and he is stepping down in any case so will NOT become PM, you are thinking of Gordon Brown, who is not his deputy, but the Chancellor, and only the MPs and party members get a vote on who takes over, so if you want to vote, then you ahve to join the Labour Party.

Why get rid of him? They're all like for like replacements, Labour, Tory, can anyone see the difference? If people are foolish enough to think an alternative government would've stood against Bush and not gone into 'the war against terror' then I think they need a reality check. Have people forgot 'you're either with us or against us...' Gordon Brown will never be voted PM, there are far too many English people who faced with the prospect of a Scots PM will vote with their feet, ITV might as well hold the elections as a reality show phone in. That way quality papers like the Sun can tell the populas who to vote for and the sheep will follow.

The very first thing u need to get tony blair scaked is the removal of Mr Bush .Unless and until he is their nonody can remove tony blair(not even the people of england)...so pray that bush is busy solving the problem of N.Korea and & in the mean time tony gets sacked and dont worry about his deputy as he is never going to become the P.M as public and support of party members is not with him ...so lets pray to see the back of tony blair leaving the P.M post by this year...

by the time you go through the process of removing him he will already have left of his own accord.
impeaching will come after he has left, it is much easier that way.
Gordon Brown will only be leader and prime minister for a short spell when tony chucks it. The Conservatives will get in due to the voting system. David Cameron will be the Prime Minister even although Gordon Brown will also be the Prime minister for virtually no time at all.

You will be very sorry if you get rid of him. Just think about the most likely successor - Mr. Brown, this guy will give all our country's wealth away to the world's scroungers in the hope he will come across as a goody two shoes. The other parties also offer cretins as leaders.

Set him up in a hotel room with two pigs a dildo and some lube and take photos. He'll be gone in no time. Add his deputy prime minister to the fun and photos if you want him out too. You just need some drugs to make them pass out and a way past the body guards.

Every day this liar remains in office is a disgrace to the country, but the people are powerless to expedite his departure. In theory the Queen could sack him (like the Australian Gov-Gen. did in 1975) but she would never do that. His party could force him out but we saw by their repeated applause of his speech at the conference that they've all been lobotomised. The best we can hope for is that he receives none of the traditional honours given to former PMs, and might even face legal action, like Pinochet, after he leaves office.

there's nothing you can do, the only way to remove the PM from power is for his party to hold a vote of no confidence, which requires the majority of the party wanting rid of him. The party also decide the leader of their party through a majority vote, so if most Labour MPs want Gordon Brown to be the next leader of the party its tough luck, the only thing citizens can do is vote for the party they want in power.

he has already announced he is standing down, why should he be sacked, he is doing his job that he was elected to do even if you don't like the way he does it - democracy means you had the opportunity to vote against him and you lost, so all your doing is giving out sour grapes at bieng a loser or worse hate mongering because your an extremist who will take offense at whoever we democratically VOTE for, he isn't a business magnate that has power by his own merit unlike his wife, he is someone we chose to rule the UK on more than 1 occaision, the fact you don't like him put's you in a minority, democracy means majority rules
