Emerson, Lake and Palmer
Much of rock's best music was made in the 60's and 70's, and many of those bands still tour today. Still quite a following after this many years, and current groups continue to cover classic rock songs.

It depends on how old you are and where you're hanging out. If you're 18 and blasting music in a mall parking lot, jazz isn't going to be as 'cool' as popular alt rock bands and pop music. In that case, anything on Billboard's Top 40 is fine. If you were in my house with my friends then jazz wouldn't be quite as out of place.
