I always believed it was to celebrate all the good things in life, like a good life, good job, then the job brings mone, that brings the food, which is another thing people are cheering for and being grateful for!

because when eyes see the drink it feel happy,when tongue tastes the drink it feel happy but the ear is not happy therefore people says cheers for ears to feel happy.

It's like applauding but instead of clapping they

clang there cups and it might be another way of

saying,"we are going to have a good time or

we already are".

depends where you are from ?
as to the tradition of clinging glasses ? it comes from a long time ago ,people used to cling their glasses together hard enough so a drop of each glass would fall into the other ,in case one was poisoned !then both would die !
