It depends on the application, at its best it can provide an outline for tendencies of an individual which can be fairly reliable depending on the validity of the test and the responses.
still when adhered to, too strictly, it can create a self fufilling prophecy for better or worse, essentially the respondant becomes whatever the test reads as their personality, irregardless of the personality of the test subject beforehand.

I don't know. I was a psychology major in college- just graduated 3 years ago. I took a class in personality while in school. I found the test to be not vary reliable for myself. But, I think that it meant to be a guide than to 'tell' you about yourself personality.
I think it would be fun to look back at it sometime and reflect at my answers. Over time, it may have been accurate. It takes time to get to know your personality even though you live with yourself 24/7.

In short a personality analysis should show the type of person one is.
I do not believe in it, especially as it has been a recruiting tool for scientology!

exactly.......
personality analysis tests are generally based on standard parameters. but trust me every Human being is different and no one is absolutely perfect or horribly wrong. Every one tries to best adjust and react to his/her life situations according to his/her capacity. so they turn out to be different. Every one is unique dear.
