I watched my dog do this for the last 15 minutes.
It looked like a lot of fun so I tried it, but unfortunately I now have rug burn on my backside and my wife is yelling about crap streaks up and done the halls.
I guess I didn't wipe so good...

If I were a dog I'd rather wipe my bum across the carpet than lick it clean with my tongue.

could be a couple reasons. The dog may have worms giving him an itchy bum or dogs have a small gland one either side of their anus and dragging their behind on the carpet causes these glands to excrete a bodily fluid. If your leaving streaks up the hallways then u should get a bidet to wash ur backside after toileting

Probable Causes:infection of the anal glands:causes an ugly itch:and leave stuff on your carpet.Very smelly
Or the dog should be treated against worms
Dogs do not do this to pleasure themselves.
Go see the veterinarian,if you care about your dog
By the way:cats have this thing too.
