Take the test again. Breastfeeding usually keeps periods at bay for appr. 12-14 months. I got pregnant while breastfeeding an older baby and just carried on, gradually lessening the nursing while keeping up the cuddles. She still nursed occasionally for comfort after the baby was born, but lost interest of her own accord. It's trial and error, but have faith in yourself and you'll work it out - Mum knows best. Good luck and well done for giving your baby a great beginning.

Breastfeeding is not a reliable form of contraception, so there is a very good chance you could be unless other contraception was also used. Time to go see the doc, they can get a blood hormone level and see what that comes up with as the urine dip was faint. Incidentally the urine test only works during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy as the hormone it detects is only produced in high quantities until the placenta is fully functional and supporting the foetus instead.

It is normal not to have your period during breastfeeding, it is caused by high hormone prolactin levels which is stimulated by suckling- that is called lactation amennorhea. It suppresses ovulation for a while but you will not know when you will ovulate again, that is why you could get pregnant unknowingly while breastfeeding as there is no periods as the landmark. You need to have extra protection to be safe not getting pregnant. If you suspect pregnancy, do test in subsequent weeks. Do it in the morning as early morning urine yield better results. See your doctor if you get negative results yet have the same feelings for appropriate evaluation of your condition.â¥

If you are really concerned, go to the doctor or Planned Parenthood for a reliable test (only $10 at PP). However, sick tired & thirsty also sound like dehydration. Are you sure you are getting enough good liquids (i.e. water, gatorade, vitamin water not soda & coffee). If you are breastfeeding in particular, make sure you are drinking heaps of water. Whenever I start to feel dehydrated I add some salt directly to a bottle of water and drink it, salted french fries help too, or if you are weird like my family pickle juice works wonders.

I'm the result of my mother believing she coulnd't fall pregnant while breastfeeding. There's ten months between my brother and I.
I never had periods while I breastfed, though. I'd try another test.

Of course you can get pregnant when breast feeding and that is why you should take precaution if you dont want to get pregnant. Your best bet is to see you doctor, he will be able to tell you for sure. Good luck which ever way it goes!
