If you mean like when you type out a word it becomes a animation, all you have to do is to chat with someone with loads of these things, and when you see one that you like, right-click on it, and press save(or something similar) and choose what to type to load the animation then you done.
Or you can choose one from MSN messenger under the menu of tools -> Emoticon and then you press add, and you'll see the same window, and you browse where it is, and the words to type, and there you go ^_^ Have fun chatting~
