Will our pet caterpillar go into his cocoon soon and then do we have to wait until spring for him to emerge?

There is a certain period of time that a caterpillar has to remain in their cocoon. Depending upon the type of caterpillar has a lot to di with this. If you can identify your type of caterpillar, you can then contact your local / nearest butterfly house to check the length of time. They may even have tips for speeding up the process. I know there is a butterfly house at Niagra, Mackinac Island, and the Detroit zoo.

Good Luck.
