Im a Houston Astros fan and I really love the newfound rivalry with the St. Louis Cardinals. Ive always respected them as an opponent b/c I understand their capabilities and talent level, but but Ive never thought of them as a "classy" organization and I never thought of LaRussa as a guy with great character. My mind was changed tonight in a loss to the Tigers Kenny Roger's tonight.

Kenny Rogers had on his hand what appeared to be pine tar (was called dirt) and after a meeting with the umps he had to wash his hand after the first inning. Regardless of whether it was dirt or pine tar, there was no reason to make a big deal out of it b/c he still shut the Cards down for 7 more innings w/o anything on his hand. After the game LaRussa was asked about it and he said "after a guy has a performance like that im not gonna take anything away from him regardless of what it was" or something along those lines. That was damn classy, and the players acted the same.

Ive never noticed that kind of action by LaRussa before. I have newfound respect of him as a person/manager and the Cards organization. My real question is...how many other organizations/managers would have drawn this out as long as possible and b*tched and complained the rest of the series? Id say at least 25 of them maybe more...

(Sry so drawn out)

I agree...it could've gotten really ugly with some managers...I don't know about 25 of them, but maybe half the managers in the league...it was a classy act by the Cardinals...of course, if it had put them down 0-2, it might've been a different story.

Yes,it goes to show you that TLR is a CLASS MANAGER WIN or LOSE. Even though KR did have pinetar on his hand theres no disputing that, if anyone watches ESPN they would have seen he had the same "foreign substance" in the division series and the LCS. Thats not to take anything away from the great post-season hes having, Despite that I'm still sure that the BEST team will come out on top in the WS, be it my BIRDS on the BAT or the Detroit Tigers.Lets just enjoy the sucess that both teams are having, who would have thought way back in April that these 2 teams would be facing each other in the WS

i could be very shocked if the Cardinals provide LaRussa a settlement extension. He had that very horrific embarrassing DUI incident merely merely before the season and his team has very almost crashed and burned over the final 2 weeks. i think of he's administered his direction in St. Louis and could no longer get a clean settlement.

Yeah, I'm amazed LaRussa let it go, and I'm amazed Kenny Rogers is that stupid. I hope he doesn't tarnish the Tigers, because they've worked really hard to get where they're at, without cheating.

I think that LaRussa's comments also may have had something to do with the fact that his good friend Jim Leyland is managing the Tigers. Go Tigers!!

Why don`t the cardinals use a back up rightfielder when they need a clutch hitter.Encarnacion has spoiled many scoreing oportunities not hitting pass the infield

Yeah it could have been ugly. Luckily it is a 7 game series. If there was a one game World Series then it would have been a bigger deal. Lets look forward to the next game.
