Isnt that the WORST feeling?!?! The itchiness likely isnt from healing...its from dead skin buildup. Mine was worst right on the heel of my hand.
Do NOT stick a knitting needle down there, or any other object. If you scratch yourself, you can cause a nasty infection where the innocent scratch was. (and if it gets bad you will have to have antibiodics or an IV)
Try and do something to take your mind off it...suck ice cubes or scratch your arm above the cast. That worked for me.
When they change your cast, ask if you can wash your hand/wrist and dry it well. That can work wonders; and the heated water will feel good too.
Good luck...and try out the cool glow in the dark cast! :)
PS Unrelated to your question....dont skimp on the physio afterwards. I did and I regret it...my wrist still bothers me

I know that lots of people try to shove something thin and hard (like the handle of a spoon or something) down there. It gives them a little relief. If your cast is too tight, then I'm afraid I can't think of any other way for you to have a good scratch!

Whatever you do DON'T stick a quarter or coin of any sort down in there. I did when I was about 11 when I had a hard cast and it got stuck in there and rub a nasty raw place in the shape of the quarter and got all infected and embedded in my leg......not a good idea.
I would say try a coat hanger but that's a little too dangerous. There's really nothing you can do here.
Good luck though.

The itching is most likely a sign that things are healing up.
Either get something like a ruler or a pencil to scratch inside the cast, which I don't recommend doing, or just summon up the willpower to resist the urge.

Don't itch it. The way to get rid of an itching sensation is to cause pain on the spot you are itching. The pain distracts you from the itch. You don't want to cause pain to the place under your cast.

resist the urge to scratch,,might get more germs into your already damaged arm. Some people use something like a pencil or something similar to scratch, but I wouldn't recommend it. Good luck.

A ruler. My favourite tool in the kitchen to use as a scratcher is a fish slice.

Take a knitting needle and stick it in between your arm the cast. That way you can reach almost anywhere.
