Best that you think of something. Here's an excercise that may help: I'll fill in the blanks to give you an example.
Theme: Romance
Main character: A novelist
He/she wants: To cry
But: he doesn't know how
The story begins: At a zoo
The story ends: in a dark alley
If you do a few of these, you can build a nice plot with conflict and think about all the other details in between. Good luck!

Choosing a theme is the first step in writing a story. We'd be doing the work for you. You decide.

how can you say you want to write a book if you do not have a topic. do you want to write fiction or non fiction? you must have some type of idea if you want to write the book. what do you do to earn your living? have you every gone on any trips? has your life not had any type of hardship or tragedy. use you as a reference point and move out from there.
