I wan told by the school district that the term "Christmas Break" may be offensive to non-christians. I think this is sad that in America, a country of long standing traditions, we cannot refer to the school break in December as either a Christmas break or even a holiday break. It must be referred to as a Winter Break. Sad state of affairs.

I totally agree, its ridiculous, just because it has the word "Christ" in it doesn't mean it should be taken out of public schools. Why do we have Christmas break?? Because Jesus Christ was born on that day, remind your grandson of that, Jesus the Christ was born on Christmas day therefore "Christ"mas, If other student get offended by that, even though it has been called Christmas break for the last how many years, that's their problem I think, I mean come on! As soon as Christians want to celebrate something it wrong, or it offends people. Honestly, people can say "happy 4-20" up and down the school hallways and no one does anything about that, its ridiculous. If you feel a need to protest I say go for it, people, especially Christians, need to take a stand for what they believe in after all this is a free country, if they can protest about making marijuana legal why can't we protest about calling it Christmas. Its just my opinion but I say do something about it, I'm behind you all the way I don't know who else is.

I agree with Grieving Father and Marcia today we live in a world
that does not want to have anything to do with excepting that
Christmas is Jesus's Birthday. They are trying everywhere from
the schools to the work place to make us give up celebrating or saying Merry Christmas or call it Christmas Break. I thought that this was a free country an we had free speech. If every Christian would take a stand all over the whole world by getting mad an refusing to give in to satan's controll over these matters. If a boss fires you for keep saying Merry Christmas at work then that place was not worth working at anyway or what are they going to do kick children out of school for calling it Christmas Break at school we need to buck up against the big shots and take a stand.Good Luck and God Bless You and Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!

I don't know about Christman Break but, it is hard enough to avoid the sense that if you and your family don't celebrate Christmas you are being cheated as a kid.

I think that we need to realize that in non-religious schools, not everyone believes the same thing we do. The mandate is there to make it friendly to all.

Separation of Church and state is extremely important and in public schools and secular private schools it is only right to remove the religious holidays from the break definitions.

Yes, unfortunately since the Communist ACLU gets their opinions to make laws for everyone else, they forced schools to call it winter break many years ago.

political correctness.
i once saw an episode of "south park" about Christmas, they had to remove any symbols of christianity in a school play in order not to offend the jews, it was so funny.

It's just another thing for people who have nothing better to do than whine and cry about things that nobody ACTUALLY cares about, just so they can have it all their way. What if it was called "Kwanzaa break," and people wanted the word "Kwanzaa" removed? Can you imagine the backlash?

Because we as a country are repressed and need a release. You should call it whatever makes sense to you individually.
