Just wondering because i'm planning on writing/drawing something.
Or even if it's cliche, does it still help?

Who cares, the comic industry is bombarded with male heroes,, it's about time "CHICK POWER" prevailed and got recognition,, after all, it's been forever, since, Bionic Woman, SuperGirl, Wonderwoman, Catwoman, Zena, Red Sonja, had a predecessor.

I'm not a comic buff by all counts, but I respect any form of creativity that shows women in an empowering situation.. draw away, and best of luck!

I guess it has. Manga and comics, anime and cartoons alike almost always have one or two or more sexy female characters. I don't know why but I guess it's to attract more readers especially from hormonal teenage boys and older men. Well, my answer is yes, female characters of that type has already been a cliche or stereotype already.

the sexy female comic character has been cliche since the first one was intruduced all those years ago. That being said....we can never have enough sexy female comic characters...there are still fewer female characters than male and there is still a certain appeal that they have that is unmistakable...so go for it....

well, yeah.. part of writing/making a comic strip is to make your characters interesting.. well not very interesting that his/her physical appearance is too catchy for the eyes of the readers.. maybe his/her history.. make his/her history very interesting so that the readers would thirst for the next events in the story that would reveal parts of his/her life.. but always remember to focus on the story's background.. bcoz you might get out of the idea.

I think you can't have a comic without a sexy character.

The women in comic books are sexy by definition, unless the artist takes time to deliberately draw someone who is elderly, overweight, or just doesn't take care of themselves.

With that in mind, most men are going to find almost any competent and confident woman attractive (in ways additional to sex.)

If you want to buck the trend, there are only two ways to do it. You can make a character who does not fit the stereotype. It is perfectly possible to draw an average, typical female, who gets by with competence (powers) and confidence (skills) alone.

The other way is to go whole hog and to make a character whose sexual attributes ARE her super powers. (Think of Thelma Ironthighs, who appeared in the first issue of Destroyer Duck.)

Another example of such a heroine is my copyrighted character, Dominatrix, whom feminists greeeted with howls of rage when she first appeared.

When a heroine is pictured on the cover or splash page of a comic magazine, it is often difficult to tell whether the villain is shooting her in the breasts with a blast from his ray gun, which bounces off harmlessly, or whether she is vaporizing his hand along with the gun with a power beam from her breasts. Thus, I had the sudden insight and made the bold decision to portray a woman whose super powers derive directly from her sexual attributes.

The Red Dominatrix wears a leather bra with irises, which, when activated by the controls in the palms of her leather gauntlets, allow her power beams to emerge. She also has a force-field, which emanates from her bosom, her 'breastplate'. She carries a whip for entangling foes, and for climbing and swinging. She wears a black leather domino mask, black leather panties, and thigh-high black leather boots..

Her waist-length red hair is prehensile, but she uses that SOLELY to instantly 'style' her hair after an adventure, thus concealing her secret identity. (She also has a spectacular but little-used power, to cause earth tremors when she moves her hips in a mock-sexual thrusting motion.)

She had no choice over what powers she developed, and has struggled with the feeling that someone has played a cruel joke on her. She had been the subject of crude males' admiration all her life, while simultaneously suffering the unjustifies envy and resentment of other women who are less beatutiful and less generously endowed. She would have been happy to be plain, short and flat-chested. But she uses her powers instead of wasting time feeling sorry for herself.

When my heroine (an attorney) decided that she needed to develop a costumed identity in order to more easily investigae her clients guilt or innocence, she told herself rather bitterly, "If I wear a disguise that flaunts my body, nobody will remember my face...!" So far, she has been correct.

I must give credit to Madame Medusa for the prehensile hair, to Ray (Atom) Palmer for the controls in the gloves, and to the Comet for the destructive energy beams being emitted by a part of the body which has no business emitting anything. In his case, it was his eyes, and the beams were stopped by glass goggles he wore.

(You thought that was original to another, later character...? No. The Comet was first, many years earlier.)

The personal and interpersonal dynamics of this character, and the men and women whith whom she must deal, are what makes her so life-like. She is sick and tired of being treated like a s lut, as everybody simply assumes that she is a loose person. Even the so-called 'heroines' with whom she works (an all-female team of my creation) tend to take her at face value. But nobody has yet suspected her secret identity, so it is working.

You might try something like that. Please don't steal my ideas, because if you do it will be obvious to everybody where you got them. But you seem to have a good creative streak, you ask the right questions. I think that you will be successful. Good Luck!

No, if women weren't sexy in the comic and were fat no one would want to read it.

Sexy women = sales. conversely I'm sure women don't want to see a bunch of couch potato fat *** guys in spandex too.

No, but you have to make her different. She has to pop! Or be a bad *** like no one has ever seen. Think a tattooed vampire *****, or something like that. Something that can be very sexy, but have some kind of powers, or issues...lol. A metal chick that uses razor blades to kill when she has to...lots of piercings....BE CREATIVE! Id love to see the end result!! Good Luck!
