The advantage is not that big, in fact in some things the Pentium 4 is better. The only advantage to the D is it is dual core, which helps for multitasking. I don't know what the price is on the two you are looking at, but if the P4 is a lot cheaper I would get it.

You will see difference in performance with Pentium D. I mean they are certainly better, Though the speed of your computer depends on lot of other important things Like RAM and Hardisk Speed, but given similar conditions for both the processors and with above confi., I think Pentium D will clock better. Though I wuold suggest you to go with Pentium Core 2 Duo processors. Even 1.6 GHz will give you better performance then 3.2 GHz.

pentium d is better it can prossess at a much higher pace then the p4 even thou p4 its 3.2 ghz
