I know its a part of life and all but if you look at a lot of cartoons, bambi, the lion king, watership down, why does there have to be such sadness. cant kids just have a bit of happiness in their lives as they are growing up without having to deal with emotions such as these at such a young age?

You have to prepare them for life and the real world somehow! I guess that is an acceptable way of conditioning them!

I think it probably helps them develop a healthy understanding of death and that sad things do happen in life. If they were sheltered from the idea of death for their early life imagine their reaction if they first found out at 8 or 9. It would be pretty traumatizing Im sure.

Did you miss out on Bugs Bunny as a child?

Lion King (which is really a retelling of Hamlet) ends happy.

Bambi kinda sorta ends happy.

They all kind of say: life is hard, you have to find the good in it.

they need to be prepared for the real world.

Because, society is big on the violence now. No violence, death, etc, than it sure isn't gonna make big money.
