Connecting your phone and PC
A Nokia phone and a compatible PC can be excellent partners.
Keeping calendar and contacts synchronized between the two devices means easy management of your schedule and phonebook. Your Nokia phone can also give you new options for connecting your PC to the Internet.
At the same time, a compatible PC can offer storage space, a full keyboard, and expanded file visibility, making it a convenient tool for managing and editing phone files.
Nokia PC Suite software
Nokia offers downloadable software, called Nokia PC Suite, that allows you to synchronize and transfer data between your compatible phone and a compatible PC via a compatible data cable or a wireless connection. It also offers applications for creating, editing, managing, and viewing phone files on your PC and managing your phone modem connections for your PC. PC Suite can furthermore be an excellent tool for moving data from one compatible Nokia phone to another.
Will PC Suite work for me?
The latest version of PC Suite is compatible with almost all new Nokia phone models. Only the simplest Nokia models (from the 1000 or 2000 series) are not supported.
PC Suite runs on Windows 2000 or XP and uses a PC's compatible Bluetooth, infrared, or USB connection to transfer data. In order to use the USB connection, you will need a Nokia data cable compatible with your phone model and the drivers for that cable installed on your PC.
PC Suite has undergone major development recently, which means that some earlier phone models are not compatible with this latest version of the software. However, other versions of PC Suite software exist for many earlier Nokia phone models.
For information on PC Suite compatibility for your phone model, on your phone's connection methods and compatible PC Bluetooth connections, see the features supported by your phone
What if I can't use PC Suite?
If PC Suite is not compatible with your phone model or your PC, you can still transfer data wirelessly between the two devices if they support the same connection type (Bluetooth and/or infrared).
You can also transfer data via compatible cable, but first you need to download and install the appropriate cable driver. You can find the correct cable model for your phone from your phone's user guide. The driver is available for free – just select the correct cable model from the Accessories drop-down menu on the Product support main page.
Modem drivers
Modem functionality is included in the latest version of PC Suite, and installing PC Suite is the easiest way to set up modem for your compatible Windows-based PC.
However, if PC Suite is not an option for you, you can still use your phone as a modem for your compatible Windows-based PC.
If you want to use modem functionality via cable, first download and install the cable driver. Then install the modem driver.
If you want to use modem functionality via Bluetooth or infrared, download and install the appropriate modem driver for your PC's operating system.
All drivers are available for free from your phone's support pages – just select your phone model from the Phones drop-down menu on the Product support main page.

I had the same problem with my Nokia N70. I had to download their software again, uninstall the old and install the new.
But one thing to note is make sure your serial cable is the one for your phone - there are different models and they all fit the pop-port on the bottom of the phone. Without the right cable model it wont work for some stupid reason.
